What is the Circular Economy?

The Circular Economy (CE) is a new economic model (of production and consumption) which provides several systems for creating value, detaching or dissociating them from the consumption of finite resources.

In a CE, the value of products and materials is maintained for as long as possible, waste and the use of resources is reduced to a minimum and resources are kept within the economy when a product reaches the end of its life as they are used over and over to create more value.

What criteria do initiatives have to meet in order to join Circular Basque?

The organizations that are part of Circular Basque can share through their profile of the website any initiative they are developing in Euskadi, in accordance with the Circular Economy model. They can be related to different areas of action, such as intersectoral collaboration, technological development, new business models, redesign, remanufacturing, reuse or recycling; as well as with different economic sectors.

We look for projects that improve and redefine the products and processes, and use the resources more efficiently, from the design phase, through the marketing to the end of life. The aim is to incorporate existing or new technologies, changes in plant models, logistical processes or business models that allow the use of renewable energy and the most efficient materials, prolong the useful life of the products, sensitize them, share them, Reuse, remanufacture, valorize or recycle them, and obtain the highest possible value with the least environmental impact.

Organizations that provide services (eg consulting, or others) and products that enable others to develop circular economy initiatives may be part of the Basque Circular only if these organizations refer to them as collaborators in the development of their circular initiatives.

How can I share initiatives on the website?

Can I cancel my membership with Circular Basque?

Yes. Users of the website are free to exercise their right to access, rectify, remove and challenge information at any time in accordance with Spanish Law 15/1999 of 13 December regarding Personal Data Protection.

Why should we recommend other circular economy initiatives?
